Ark: Survival Evolved hit the shelves this week as the game launched as a physical product for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Meanwhile, the title also came out of early access on Steam marking the end of a lengthy process for Studio Wildcard. However, the title’s official release isn’t the only Ark news this week.
Studio Wildcard has announced a new expansion for the survival game – Aberration. This newest venture will see survivors make their way through a sci-fi/fantasy realm largely different from the game’s previous expansion, Scorched Earth. Whilst Scorched Earth has been largely available since before the game’s official launch, the next expansion is set to debut in October. Although the game’s UK steam page is yet to display an official price at launch, the DLC is expected to retail across the pond for $19.99.
On the official reveal trailer for Aberration, Studio Wildcard set the tone for their upcoming add-on:
Waking up on ‘Aberration’, a derelict, malfunctioning ARK with an elaborate underground biome system, survivors face exotic new challenges unlike anything before: extreme radioactive sunlight and environmental hazards, ziplines, wingsuits, climbing gear, cave dwellings, charge-batteries, and far more, along with a stable of extraordinary new creatures await within the mysterious depths. But beware the ‘Nameless’: unrelenting, Element-infused humanoids which have evolved into vicious light-hating monstrosities! On Aberration, survivors will uncover the ultimate secrets of the ARKs, and discover what the future holds in store for those strong and clever enough to survive!
Players who have previously purchased the game’s season pass or the Ark: Explorer’s Edition will gain access to the expansion for no additional cost as it premieres next month. The expansion will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
