It’s no secret that Amiibo was and still a huge hit among gamers. These mere figurines became a phenomenon, driving prices up and causing distress for Nintendo fans looking to collect the lot. There were even news stories of people stealing trucks just to get certain amiibo. They’re definitely the Cabbage Patch Kids of this generation.
If you don’t know what an Amiibo is; they’re figurines that once connected to your Nintendo System of choice can unlock special content for certain games.
Now Sony has announced they will be making their own figurines with their own iconic PlayStation gaming characters.
These figurines will be called ‘Totaku’ and will launch with seven 10cm figurines. The seven figurines include Crash Bandicoot, Heihachi Mishima (Tekken), The Hunter (BloodBorne), Sackboy (LittleBigPlanet), Parappa the Rapper, the Feisar FX350 (Wipeout), and Kratos (God of War) for the first wave.
These figurines will be exclusive to GameStop in the US and cost $9.99 each.
Each Totaku figurine looks highly detailed, and I hope the actual figurines will reflect this when they launch on March 23, 2018. These figurines, unlike Amiibo, have no compatibility with games so they’re just highly detailed figurines which is disappointing to some.
The first wave will have first edition makers on them so that’s a plus for collectors. The Totaku series has a lot of potential to be a hit and I’m very excited to try and get my hands on a Sackboy and Hunter figurine.
Are you going to buy the Totaku figurines? Who do you hope gets a figurine in the future? Tell me with a comment below. Personally, I really want Kat from Gravity Rush to get a figurine because I love her design.
